It is not a hotel, it is a way of life.

Euler Residence Hotel is built by Abraham Euler-Brunner in immediate vicinity of the new Basel Railway Station in 1865, the hotel has seen the rise of a new area and stood noble and strong through the ups and downs of history.

Small wonder, the traditional hotel reflects its origin in the Belle Epoch and the early days of the Railway Age to this day. This does not mean, however, that the hotel appears even remotely stuffy and antiquated. Although its guests may feel that time has stood still at the Euler, giving it the homely appeal of a place where things seem to happen with more thought and care than in the fast living days.

The Euler is one of Switzerland's leading establishments with a worldwide reputation as a hotel of the highest standards.

The Euler has seen many illustrious guests - including the crowned heads of king Albert and Queen Elisabeth of Belgium, Queen Alexandrine of Denmark, Princess Victoria of England, Princess Soraya, the Grand Duke Cyrill of Russia and famous personalities from politics, art and society such as Theodor Heuss, Edward Heath, Kurt Furgler, Josephine Baker, Greta Garbo, Rubinstein, and - more recently - Paul Simon, Stefan Edberg and Konstantin Wecker.
LOCATION

* To dine at the hotel in the Restaurant Le Jardin was always an exciting dining experience. One of the best restaurants in town with a French style menu is featuring many mouthwatering dishes of a high quality.

* The Euler Bar with its beautiful summer patio belongs to the attraction of the town and is favoured by many Basel citizens and visitors for an afternoon tea or evening out. Daily, from 6pm the Piano player is playing music to remember. Our Bar crew is blending, stirring and mixing cocktails to satisfay your taste buds.

* For the small executive meeting (up to 8 pax) the hotel suggest the General Sutter Suite, for the medium size conference the Salon Rouge can accommodate 70 pax and for a congress of up to 150 pax the Wiener Salon is the place to be.

"Charming, comfortable hotel in perfect location"
Had a three night stay in the Euler in November 2004 and absolutely loved it. We had booked to stay at the Central, but on checking in were upgraded to the Euler for the same price. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was bright, spacious and comfortable, and the piano bar was just wonderful. This is a hotel with real character, so different from the faceless chains. The location opposite the Central Station means that the bus from the airport stops right outside. It's only a five minute walk from the hotel to the old town, but there are also plentiful and frequent trams. The hotel even give you a free travel pass valid on all trams and buses - including the bus back to the hotel. Highly recommended.

"Location, Location, Location"
Booked the sister-hotel, the Central. On arrival I was upgraded to the main Hotel Euler without any additional charge. Not only that, I had booked room only but was given breakfast the following morning; again, free of any additional charge. Remember the City Tax applies to all Basel Hotels. CHF3.60 per day - but in return you get a free travel ticket that covers all public transport - a great way to see the city. The Hotel Euler is in the perfect location for exploring the city. Adjacent to the Bahnhof SBB railway station, it is also at the end of the No.50 bus route that brings you straight from the airport to within 50 yards of the front door. The Hotel Euler has character. It is an older hotel that is clean and comfortable. If you are going to Basel to spend a week looking at the walls of the hotel and savouring the facilities of that hotel (or if you are an American), stay at the Hilton across the road. If you are staying for a night or three, stay at the Hotel Euler. The staff are friendly and multilingual. The food is good. The service is excellent. But most of all, look at the location of the Hotel.
